Last years tourney was a great success, and many emailed and complimented on how well the tourney was run, and how it was a great idea to have a varsity tournament and MS/JV qualifying tournament all ran at the same time in one location. Coaches were also able to work with the younger kids and the older kids since they were all wrestling in one gym. The tournament will continue the tradition of being the opening weekend MS/JV lower-state qualifying tournament for the Carolina Invitational. This allows all of your kids who are in MS, as well as those who are not yet varsity in HS, to get the early season mat time they need, as well as get qualified for the Carolina Invitational. Medals will be provided to the top 3 in each weight class. (*many parents who had children wrestle in this last year "loved seeing their kids called to the awards podium and presented with their FIRST EVER wrestling medal, just like the older kids") In conjunction with that tourney, we will host the varsity portion as well. It will be a standard format 16 man, double elimination, bracketed tourney, with medals for the top 3 in each weight class, as well as trophies to the top 3 teams. T-Shirts will be provided to the winners of each weight class, as well as a poster size wall chart of their bracket. Bluffton's gym can hold 6 mats comfortably on the floor with plenty of room for warm-up and spectators. All wrestling is done in one gym with no running back and forth, or overcrowded floor space or bleachers. This will be a one day tourney to avoid the extra cost and budget issues related to having overnight trips. All MS/JV entries from schools in the LowerState that are eligible to attend are welcome.
